We were first introduced to Steve and his artistry when we visited Expressions Gallery a few years back. We were immediately taken by his exceptional talent and breathtaking photography (not to mention his warm, engaging manner). We couldn’t resist buying our first piece (God’s Rays) soon thereafter to mark the occasion of our daughter’s wedding. But we kept coming back to the gallery. I recently worked with Steve to create a surprise gift for my wife’s birthday. He had kept a record of the images she and I mentioned we liked over the years so we had a good starting point. After several phone calls and some mock-ups / designs viewed remotely (which he patiently and thoughtfully provided) we landed on this piece — Graceful Layers triptych — which hangs in our dining room. Not only did Steve help select the perfect piece, but he went above and beyond to ensure that it was ready (I did not give him much lead time) for my wife’s big day. She was thrilled! Thanks Steve for your many gifts and for helping to bring a part of the Cape we so love to our home.

Steve and the team there at Expressions were great. Obviously the images are phenomenal and we veered towards some of the 'panned' shots that blur the lines between photography and art. While originally considering others, Steve suggested 'Emerald Tides' mocked it up in our space (even faking a proposed change to our seat cushion color) and the coloring & size fit was perfect. Suggested the right (matte) finish too so sunlight in the room wouldn't reflect too badly and the end result is outstanding. Couldn't be happier.

I visited Expressions Gallery this summer after reading an article in the Cape Cod Chronicle about the gallery and Steve the owner, which had piqued my interest. He helped us evaluate several options for the space we wanted to fill - providing us with much valuable input. We now have a beautiful photograph titled First Splash hanging in our stairwell. I spent six or more years looking for the right piece to hang there - and am so pleased with what we got - and with his help choosing the print, the dimensions and placement.

After watching Chronicle’s feature on the gallery including an interview with Steve, we decided to drop in and have a look. Steve spent a lot of time with us and we learned all about how he got into his photography and several other stories that added another dimension to the visit. We were immediately taken in by his work, particularly his ability to capture the different moods and textures of the area’s beaches, flats and marshes. After much deliberation, we settled on a piece that currently hangs over our fireplace at our Cape house.

This summer, while visiting my parents on Cape Cod, we happened to go into Expressions Gallery on Main St. in Chatham and realized that it was the same gallery with the beautiful photography in one of their coffee table books. Steve, the owner and photographer, couldn't have been nicer and walked us through what it might look like to install one of his prints in our home above the fireplace. We were immediately drawn to "Emerald Tide" because of the colors, soft lines of the Brewster flats, and the fact that it was shot in Brewster (the best town on the Cape). We couldn't be happier with the print. Emerald Tide has been the perfect addition to our home in CO, bringing a little bit of the Cape to the mountains!

My wife and I first discovered this amazing gallery in the summer of 2023. Expressions gallery was a real part of our falling in love with Chatham. Stopping in to "take a look" turned into a several hour pleasure tour of Cape Cod by way of Steven Koppel's highly tuned eye and our first purchase. Not only did we purchase After the Storm, but we fell in love with his entire body of work. The gallery, which is gorgeous, hosts beautiful images from all over Cape Cod. One of his favorite locations, Brewster Flats provides amazing images. His work is incredibly expressive. The movement, the palette, the feelings evoked are beautiful. There is no comparison to other galleries. Be sure to inquire about their classes, workshops, and all of their goings on. Impressive. We were so thrilled to add First Splash to our growing collection this last summer visit. We have visited the Cape each year for decades, and now equally look forward to our visit to his gallery. Steven's work looks amazing in our home! We always get questions and comments.

We had been courting Steve's photos for two years before we could finally choose which one we wanted. He has so many great photos to choose from. In the end, we couldn't be happier with Morning Meditation. Even during that time, Steve and Kristen were really wonderful to work with. Expressions of Cape Cod Book

Expressions of Cape Cod is an artist’s edition of images showcased at the EXPRESSIONS Gallery. These emotive images of sand, water, and sky express Steve’s experiences on Cape Cod’s beaches and tidal flats, highlighting their remarkable beauty.
